How Ontario County Records Fit Together
New York's Freedom of Information Law provides a process for requesting many government records, but access depends on the particular record and applicable privacy, investigation, and sealing rules. An Ontario County Sheriff booking can produce a jail record, while the County's official custody route points visitors to the statewide incarcerated-person lookup. A person later serving a state sentence may appear through the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, and the court record is the place to confirm what happened after an arrest. Public Officers Law §89(2)(b)(viii) gives booking photographs their own privacy analysis, so a photo request is not the same as a guarantee of release.
Our purpose is to put those distinct, official systems and their limits in one readable Ontario County guide. The site describes the County locator, the Sheriff app, records-request process, court-disposition path, and state or federal custody locators without copying their records or displaying people’s photographs.
What the Guide Covers
The site’s pages are organized around source boundaries rather than a single claimed database.
- The Ontario County home guide explains current custody, booking-record requests, New York photo rules, and the difference between a booking and a court disposition.
- Wanted Fugitives explains the official Sheriff app and tip route without presenting an unverified static warrant list.
- Arrest News separates official agency information from regional reporting and other unofficial sources.
- Victor Busted Mugshots, Farmington Busted Mugshots, and Canandaigua Busted Mugshots explain why agency custody can vary by municipality.
What This Private Site Cannot Do
Ontario County Busted Mugshots is independently operated and is not connected to an Ontario County, New York, or federal government office, sheriff, jail, or corrections department. It does not maintain official records, determine legal status, or act for an agency.
- We cannot release, hold, transport, or transfer anyone in custody.
- We cannot arrange bond, visitation, deposits, or other jail services.
- We cannot provide legal advice or decide the meaning of a court order.
- We cannot guarantee that an outside office’s phone number, fee, address, or online tool has not changed.
Only the record-holding public office can confirm custody, charges, a release, or the status of a request. A booking is an accusation, not a conviction, and a later court record may change the outcome.
Search-Partner Disclosure
Some pages include a search box operated by an independent provider. That provider controls its own results, terms, data practices, and any paid offer. If a visitor chooses a paid partner service through a qualifying referral, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support the guide. A referral relationship does not make the partner’s results official or guaranteed.
